Can my kid watch this show?

A guide for parents & guardians

Short answer… maybe. Stand-up comedy can be a great way to bond as a family, and is a useful medium through which to explore different concepts and understand different perspectives. However, Laugh Department understands that comedy nights also represent challenges for families when it comes to determining whether any particular event or venue is suitable for their children. We are not going to decide what’s best for your child. This page serves to set your expectations for the content of our shows, and to outline any restrictions set by our partner venues.

There are some bells you can’t unring

Our Code of Conduct exists to ensure the safety of all comedians, crew and audience members. It outlines acceptable and unacceptable behaviours; and states a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination, hate speech, violence, nudity and any behaviour/speech that makes people feel unsafe or unwelcome. It must be noted, however, that beyond this, very few restrictions are placed on the actual subject matter of comedians’ material. Comedians are free to explore topics they find interesting and that they feel will be enjoyable to audience members. As such, mature themes and language are likely to be present in all of our shows.
